$1300 Raised for Familias de la Esperanza
“Esperanza” means “hope.”
In 2006, families were living and working at a dump overlooking the resort town of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The charity Familias de la Esperanza, also known as Families at the Dump, began providing food and water to those people.
They enlisted the support of a local resort developer and volunteers, and came up with a mission statement: “To provide physical, educational, medical, spiritual and emotional support to the families living in the landfill or garbage dump in Puerto Vallarta or surrounding areas.”
Eight years later, they are completing a 70-unit housing and community learning centre, located on Hope Road.
Realtor® Barbara Robin has been very involved with Familias de la Esperanza, and in November she hosted a Realtors’ lunch to raise money for the charity.
Barbara made us some great food and raised $1302.
Thanks Barbara and everyone who donated money to support this amazing charity.
